Accessing Platform Services

This topic lists the prerequisites for a user to access the admin panel of Platform Services.

You can access the admin panel by adding /admin to the end of your Platform Services URL (example: https://yourservername/EmsPlatform/admin). Cloud format https://[domain].emscloudservice.com/platform.

Prerequisites

  1. Everyday User:

    1. You must be an Everyday User.

    2. We recommend creating a new Everyday User account for accessing Platform Services. This keeps the account used for creating reservations separate.

  2. Assigned Security Template:

    1. You must be assigned to an Everyday User Security template that includes the Web Administrator role.

  3. Native EMS Authentication:

    1. The Platform Admin page uses native EMS authentication by default—email address of the Everyday User and the native password entered when the user was created in the Desktop Client. SSO like SAML or LDAP cannot be used.

  4. Anonymous Authentication in IIS:

    1. Platform Services must use anonymous authentication in IIS.

    Other Important Pointers:

  • When installing Platform Services for the first time, in the EMS Platform Services Setup wizard:

    • On the Database Information dialog, clear the Use Windows Authentication For Database Connection field.

    • On the Virtual Service Information dialog, clear the Enable NTLM For EMS Everyday User Authentication field.

  • To disable the above options, reinstall Platform Services.

  • In the Everyday User Applications parameters, set the Field Used to Authenticate Everyday User parameter to All if it is not in use already.
