Types of Transactions
EMS supports several transaction types for managing billing activity on reservations and invoices.
| Transaction type | Description |
|---|---|
| Deposit |
A deposit is an amount paid before invoicing occurs. Deposits are applied to a reservation and automatically reduce the balance due when the reservation is invoiced. A damage deposit is a special type of deposit that is not applied to an invoice. Instead, you return the deposit by voiding the damage deposit transaction if no damages occur. |
| Payment |
A payment is an amount applied to an invoice to reduce the outstanding balance. A pre-payment is similar to a deposit and is applied to a reservation before invoicing. |
| Adjustment |
An adjustment modifies the amount due on an existing invoice. For example, if you invoice a customer for $202.00 and receive a payment of $200.00, you can enter a negative adjustment of $2.00 to close the invoice. |
| Refund | A refund returns funds that were previously applied to an invoiced reservation. |
