Utilization Tab

The Utilization tab helps you optimize and manage the use of available space within a building. You can view the building's utilization and occupancy for a specific day, week, or month.

The Utilization chart calculates how much bookable space is used during a given period by dividing the time booked, by the total time available. Booked time also covers setup and teardown time. It only includes bookings from 8 AM to 5 PM in the building's local time zone and measures space reservation time, not the number of occupants.

The Occupancy chart calculates the daily building usage by dividing the number of unique badge swipes by the building's capacity. Occupancy tracks how many individuals occupy the building each day.

Both utilization and occupancy are important to optimize management of building resource and enhance the workplace experience.

View the building's utilization and occupancy

1. In the Analyze module > Show metrics, click a building in the list.

2. On the Analyze building page, click the Utilization tab.

3. In Increment, select the time frame for which you want to view usage:

   • By day, shows daily metrics.

   • By week, shows weekly metric over several weeks.

   • By month, shows monthly metric over several months.

   • Custom, shows metrics for your selected timeframe. After you select Custom, the start and end date fields appear. Select a date range within the past 5 months or up to 1 month in future. The calendar restricts you to select dates only within the past 5 months or up to 1 month in the future.

4. Slide the Adjust slider left or right to display the trend on the chart for a specific timeframe. For instance, if you select an increment by day, you can scroll left or right to an hour within a workday to see the percentage of space used and number of people within the space. If you choose By week, you can move the slider to different weeks in the Adjuster.

   The utilization and occupancy charts update according to the selected time frame.

5. Hover your cursor over or click a point on a chart to display metric details for a specific date.

   • Utilization chart: Bookings per day

     • Date

     • Percent: Shows the percentage of space being used in the building.

   • Occupancy chart: Badge swipes per day

     • Date

     • Percent: Shows the percentage of occupants in the building.
