Work Order If/Then Conditional Sub-Procedures
Work orders support if/then conditional logic for procedures. This logic guides you through only the sub-tasks relevant to your specific situation.
Smart and dynamic guidance
When you record a reading on a trigger sub-procedure, the system performs the following actions:
- Enables or disables the associated conditional child sub-procedures right away.
- Guides you through the correct steps based on your answers without a page reload.
- Supports Yes/No, Choice list, and Ranged data trigger types.
Relevant sub-procedures
To ensure you only see applicable tasks, the system manages sub-procedures as follows:
-
The system hides conditional sub-tasks when the page first loads. They only appear once you meet the trigger condition.
-
If you change a trigger reading, the system updates which sub-tasks are active.
Visual cues
Conditional sub-tasks look different to help you identify them:
-
The system indents them under their parent task.
-
They feature a Link/Chain icon next to the label.
-
A tooltip on the icon says: This sub-procedure depends on a parent task.
-
Disabled tasks appear grayed out until you meet the trigger condition.
Data preservation and access:
-
Saved readings: The system saves any readings you enter, even if it later hides those tasks.
-
Reopening work orders: When you reopen a work order, the system shows the sub-tasks that match your saved readings.
-
Saving without errors: You can save your work even if some tasks are hidden. The system only needs readings for active tasks.
-
Mobile and Desktop: These features work the same way on all devices.
