Test Equipment

Test equipment includes assets used in maintenance. The test equipment asset type code is sTST. When you add test equipment, it becomes part of the work order. This helps facilitate tracking of assets used for testing. Test equipment helps to ensure systems and components operate efficiently, safely, and within regulatory compliance. Create assets in Classic TMS.

Assets are identified by unique asset numbers, which might come from the serial number or an asset tracking system.

Navigate to the Test Equipment tab while in Create or Update mode.

Your organization's administrator sets up a default form within the Classic TMS modules. The display of tabs, field groupings, and fields varies depending on whether it's in Create, Update, or Query mode.

The tabs and fields you see within this content may differ from those configured by your organization's administrator. Use this information as a guideline.

The default page view is List view, which displays all information in a spreadsheet-like format. Card view displays the same items as blocks. You can switch between views on desktop platforms by clicking either the list or card icon located at the upper right of the list. Mobile phone and tablet devices only display Card view.

The Test equipment list view includes the following columns:

  • Asset number: Unique identifier assigned to an asset.

  • Description: Brief summary to provide more details.

  • Status description: Indicates the status of the asset, such as Active, Inactive, and Retired.

  • Manufacturer vendor name: Identifies the maker or brand.

  • Model number: Identifies a specific model of an asset by the manufacturer.

  • Serial number: Unique code assigned by the manufacturer. Typically used for warranty, history tracking, and distinguishing similar units.

In List view, resize and reorder the columns, and sort them in either ascending or descending order.

Add test equipment to your work order by number.

  1. On the Test equipment tab > Test equipment section, in Add by asset number, enter an asset number and press Enter.

  3. Click Update to save the work order.

Remove test equipment

Remove individual assets used for testing to ensure accurate record tracking and inventory management. Remove assets for various reasons, such as when the equipment is outdated, requires maintenance, or was incorrectly assigned to the work order.

  1. On the Test equipment tab > Test equipment section, do one of the following:

    • In list view, select Remove from the Actions menu on the left of a row.

    • In card view, select Remove from the Actions menu in the upper right of the card.

  2. In the confirmation message, click Remove.

  3. The system removes the asset from the work order while the asset record remains in the database.

  4. Click Update to save the work order.
