Main

The Main tab of an asset's update page details provide an overview of the asset, essential for identification and classification of the items that may require maintenance.

Your organization's administrator sets up a default form within the Classic TMS modules. The display of tabs, field groupings, and fields varies depending on whether it's in Create, Update, or Query mode.

The tabs and fields you see within this content may differ from those configured by your organization's administrator. Use this information as a guideline.

On the Main tab, view or enter the information:

Asset

  • Number: Unique identifier assigned to an asset.

  • Description: Brief summary to provide more details. It's commonly used to assign a friendly name to the asset, simplifying its identification. Classic TMS also has a setting that can automatically fill this with the value from the Sub category description.

Classification: View information that categorizes the asset, which helps in organization and reporting.

  • Category: Refers to the classification of the asset based on its type, purpose, or function.

  • Sub category:  Refers to further division within the main asset category that provides more specific classification of the asset.

  • Type: Provides a general classification of the asset, such as utility, test equipment, and miscellaneous assets.

  • Account: Specifies the account associated with the asset, important for budgeting and financial tracking.

  • Status: Indicates the status of the asset, indicating its availability and condition. For example, active, inactive, and retired.

Select the info icon to view status change history for the asset.

Identification: Specific information to uniquely identify the asset, including manufacturer and model information.

  • Manufacturer code: A unique code assigned by the manufacturer, used to identify the manufacturer of the asset.

  • Manufacturer description: A description of the manufacturer, providing additional context about the asset's origin.

  • Model number: Identifies a specific model of an asset by the manufacturer.

  • Serial number: Unique code assigned by the manufacturer. Typically used for warranty, history tracking, and distinguishing similar units.

Location: View location information of the asset to help technicians identify where the asset is.

  • Segment: Specifies the category that this asset is associated with. Segments are helpful for data segregation and reporting purposes.

  • Site: Specifies different geographic locations your organization services in Site, which is the highest level in the location hierarchy.

  • Building: Assigns each building to a site within TMS. Building is the second level in the location hierarchy. A single site, like a hospital campus, might include multiple buildings.

  • Location: Associates each location to a building, since it's the third tier in the location hierarchy. Location usually refers to different floors within a building.

  • Location description: More precise location where an asset is located. This field automatically populates with the Description value linked to the selected Location code, but the description may be overwritten if needed.

  • Shop: Specifies the place where work is conducted if it is not performed on-site. For instance, if a piece of equipment is sent off-site to your service provider's location, you might indicate that information.
