Visual Map
Visual Map is a menu-driven console which provides web access to drawings, rendered real-time, using the database. To access Visual Map, click the Space module and then click the Visual Map tab. You can also perform a search through the Space module and click View next to the result you wish to view. When viewing the information per search result, you can click the Visual Map drop down below the result.
The console is comprised of several areas:
Main Map (Drawing) Area
Rendered drawings are displayed in the center of the page. The results of searches (for example, rooms) are highlighted on the map if they are available.
A thumbnail version of the map is available in the lower right corner of the Drawing Area. The portion of the map currently being viewed in the main Drawing Area will be outlined in red. The user may view different portions of the Visual Map by clicking within the outlined area of the thumbnail and moving the cursor to the desired area to be viewed.
Visual Map Admin
If you have Visual Map Admin rights, an Admin button will be enabled. Click Admin to view or change the Authorization and Layer Settings.
Authorization
The following information about Authorization Groups is displayed at the top-left of the page:

Name - the name of the Authorization Group with access to change attributes such as themes, labels, and searches in Visual Map.

Type - Default, Report Grouping, or Space Planning

Report Group - Asset, Maintenance and Space

Allow Access to All Authenticated Users - setting this flag to Yes allows all users to see any reports, themes, searches, or labels to which this Authorization Group has access.
The Authorization tab can be used for the following functions:

To create an Authorization Group, enter a name in the Authorization Group field. Select a Type and other information as desired and click SAVE.

To find previously entered Authorization Groups, enter part of the group name and click FIND. If no criteria are specified, the search results will yield all authorization groups within the system. All themes, searches, and labels will be associated to an Authorization Group.
The Search Results field will display all results relevant to the Authorization Group search. Click individual results to populate the information fields above. To clear search criteria, click RESET.

To associate users to a selected Authorization Group, click the empty line in the User Privilege section. Select a user from the list and click OK. You may also enter criteria in the Search Value field and click Search to find the correct user. Set the Change? status for the added user and click Update. To disassociate a user from an Authorization Group, click the red X next to the user's name. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Set the Change? status for each user. Select Yes to give the user ability to configure the Authorization Group's settings or No to restrict this ability. To change this privilege, click the field for a drop-down arrow to appear. Once your selection has been made, click Update to commit the change or Cancel to return to previous settings.

To allow an Authorization Group (and thus all themes, labels, associated to that Authorization Group) to be seen by everyone, set the Allow Access to all Authenticated Users option to Yes.
Layer Settings
The following information about Layer Settings is displayed:

Layer Name - The unique name for the layer.

Authorization Group - The group authorized to see the specific layer. Users associated with the Authorization Group will be able to select the layer in the Graphics toggler of the Visual Map legend.

Filter - The SQL filter used to create a layer within the Visual Map.

Display -Select Yes or No to allow/disallow the selected layer to be displayed.

Visible - Select Yes or No to allow/disallow the selected layer to be visible.

List Order - The order in which the layer displays within the Visual Map legend.

Max Scale - The percentage at which the layer will appear in proportion to the Visual Map.

Color - The hexadecimal color code that the layer appears in Visual Map.
The Layer Settings tab can be used for the following functions:

To create a Layer, enter a name in the Layer Name field. Select the appropriate Authorization Group and other information as desired and click SAVE.

To find previously entered Layers, enter part of the layer name and/or values in other fields and click FIND. If no criteria are specified, the search results will yield all layers in the system.

The SEARCH RESULTS field will display all results relevant to the Layer Settings search. Click individual results to populate the information fields above. To clear search criteria, click RESET.

To edit a Layer, modify its information as desired and click SAVE

To delete a Layer, select the item from Search Results and click DELETE. A prompt will ask you to confirm the deletion.
Modifications made to Layer Settings must be saved in order for them to take effect in Visual Map. When a change has been made, click the refresh button in Visual Map to update the legend and its attributes.
Drawing Selection Area
Above the drawing area are several menus that allow the user to select the drawing, theme, and mode to be used:

Site – Choose the site you wish to view. Users can only view sites for which they have permissions.

Building – Choose the building you wish to view. Users can only view buildings for which they have permissions.

Floor – Choose the floor you wish to view. Users can only view floors for which they have permissions.

Theme – Choose the configured theme in which you wish to view the map. Once a theme is chosen, a Legend describing the patterns and colors used will appear to the left of the Drawing Area.

Select – Use the selector tool to click on selectable areas within the Visual Map (for example, rooms). Information relevant to the selected area will appear in the Space Info section to the left, below the Search Area.

Pan – Use the pan tool to move around the drawing area. Click and drag your cursor in the drawing area to view different areas of the Visual Map. Double-click in one spot to zoom in. Certain layers of the Visual Map will display at different zoom levels

Zoom Window – Select the tool and click the area of the Visual Map you wish to view closer. The map will zoom in that particular area.

Zoom Out – Click to pan the Drawing Area view out. The new view will be outlined in red in the Drawing Area's thumbnail image.

Zoom In – Click to get a closer view of a portion of the Visual Map. The new view will be outlined in red in the Drawing Area's thumbnail image. Certain details and attributes of the Visual Map are visible at varying zoom levels.

Zoom Extents – Click to get the most inclusive view of the Visual Map in the Drawing Area.

Reload – Click to refresh the Visual Map.

Printable View – Click to choose your printable view settings and display a printable view.

Measure – Click to find the distance between two points on the Visual Map. Once the measure tool has been chosen, click on the Visual Map to anchor where you would like the measurement to begin. Click over where you would like the measurement to end. The measurement will appear at the bottom of the Drawing Area. Measurements can be given in meters or feet. With the measurement tool still chosen, you can click on another area of the Visual Map to get a cumulative measurement. Click the measurement tool between individual measurements to reset and start a new measurement.
Search/Filter Area
To the left of the Drawing Area, predefined searches including filters can be selected.
Click the X button to hide the Search Area. A Search button appears when the search area is hidden; click the button to make the search reappear. Click the >> button to undock the search area.
With searches, the drawing may change from the one selected in order to complete the search. Searches can be performed based on configured search criteria. To perform a search:

In the Search field, select a value to indicate by what space type you would like to perform your search. Example space types that you can search for include Space Name, Room Name, and Room No (Room Number).

In the Filter field, select a value to indicate at what space level you would like to restrict your search. For example you can filter your search to only yield results on the currently selected Site, Building, or Building/Floor.

In the Value field, enter the information you are searching for within the Visual Map. For example, if you are searching for Room 101 at a particular site, a well-defined search would include setting the Search to Room No and entering 101 for the Value.

Click GO to execute the search. The search results will appear below. Click +/- to hide or show the Search Results area.

Searches may return multiple results. Click on an item in the Search Results area to see where that particular space is located within the Visual Map. Double-click on the item to view more information in the Space Info. area. The Space Info. bar has four buttons:

Click +/- to hide or show the Space Info. area.

Click the list icon to view a report on the selected spaces.

Click X to clear the search results and unselect the area on Visual Map.

Click >> to undock the results. Click << to redock the results.

In addition to searching for information, you can click directly on a space in the map to retrieve information about a space.
Legend
Immediately to the left of the drawing area is the legend for the rendering currently displayed, based on the theme specification. The legend is initially collapsed when Visual Maps is loaded. Re-size the area to see more of the legend values or map, as necessary.
Choose what attributes are displayed on the Visual Map by selecting different themes, boundaries, labels, and graphics.

Themes – Select a configured theme to display in the Visual Map. For example, a Space Category theme may distinguish Labs and Offices in the Visual Map. The Legend displays which colors and patterns represent a theme category. Authorization Groups have access to the themes listed below. Users not in the Authorization Group may still see its associated themes if Allow Access to All Authenticated Users is selected for that Authorization Group. If the user has access to the Authorization Group's theme(s) and has Change? privileges, the user can click on the colored box next to each theme category and change the color or pattern used.

Assets – Asset Class

Maintenance– Maintenance Request Status, Maintenance Request Status (open)

Occupancy– Occupancy Status. Occupancy Status/Area Range

Ownership/Allocation – Allocated Group, Billing Group, Owning Group, Ownership Status

Space Management – Area Range (sf), Functional Category, Functional Status, Functional Subcategory, Space Category, Space Class, Space Subcategory, Space Type

Boundaries – Select which space boundaries you would like to be visible on the Visual Map.

Labels – Select how spaces are labeled within the Visual Map. Spaces can be distinguished by configured space labels, such as by Room Number or Space Category. The size of the labels can also be set here. You may also select what tool tip appears. This is the information that will display in a pop-up when you move your cursor over a space in the map.

Graphics – Select which configured attributes display in the Visual Map. Select the Automatic layer display at different scales option for each graphic layer to display at a unique proportional scale.
