Generate Schedule
The Generate Schedule page allows you to manage the process of creating work orders from a schedule that you have defined. The contents of the page will depend on whether you are generating a new schedule or are working with a schedule that has already been generated.
You must have the appropriate security rights to generate a schedule. If the Generate Schedule option is not available, contact your system administrator.
If you are generating a schedule for the first time, clicking the FINISH button on the Schedule Details page opens the Generate Schedule page, allowing you to generate work orders from the schedule.
To generate the schedule:
-
Click the GENERATE SCHEDULE button.
A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.
-
Click OK.
The system generates the schedule and creates work orders for the time period specified by the Schedule Start and Finish dates. A message appears indicating that the schedule has been generated.
-
To examine the schedule, click the View Schedule link.
An HTML report page opens containing one row for each work order created. You can examine the dates, hours, and other parameters to ensure that the work orders were created as you expected.
If a schedule has been previously generated, clicking the FINISH button on the Schedule Details page opens the Generate Schedule page, providing several options.
-
View Schedule – Clicking this link allows you to view the scheduled work orders on an HTML report page. You can examine the dates, hours, and other parameters to ensure that the work orders were created as you expected.
If anything is wrong with the schedule, you can return to the Schedule Details page by clicking the schedule name link on the Generate Schedule page, make the required changes, and then update the schedule.
-
UPDATE SCHEDULE – Clicking this button implements any changes you have made to the schedule since the last time it was generated. It deletes the existing work orders associated with the schedule (except for those that have been closed or are currently being worked on) and generates new work orders from the modified schedule parameters.
Once you have updated the schedule, you can click the View Schedule link to examine the updated work orders. Keep in mind that any work orders that have already been closed or are currently being worked on were not updated.
-
INACTIVATE SCHEDULE – This button only appears when you are working with an Active - Generated schedule. Clicking this button deletes all of the work orders associated with this schedule (except for those that have been closed or are currently being working on) and changes the status of the schedule to Inactive.
Schedules can be inactivated for a period of time and then re-activated later on, if needed. Once you have inactivated a schedule, the button changes to ACTIVATE SCHEDULE.
-
ACTIVATE SCHEDULE – This button only appears when you are working with an Inactive schedule. Clicking this button changes the status of the schedule to Active and generates new work orders from today's date going forward.
You can click the View Schedule link to examine the newly created work orders. Any new work orders that fall outside of the original Schedule Start and Finish dates that will be created by the AutoSchedule process will not appear immediately. They are created in a batch process overnight and will not appear until the next day.
