Reservations

The Reservations module allows you to reserve resources such as rooms, vehicles, or other equipment for a particular date and time.

There are two types of resources that can be requested when making a reservation:

• Real Resource – This is an actual, specific item to be reserved (for example, Conference Room 101 at a particular property, Overhead Projector AX7, or the Green Ford F150). These resources can have a specific hourly rate.

• Alias Resource – This is a virtual resource that represents a class of real resources (for example, Large Conference Room, or Full-Sized Pool Car). Alias resources allow a requestor to specify a general type of resource and gives ultimate authority to a reservation manager to appropriately choose an item to be reserved based on other factors.

Using the Reservations module, the system is capable of integrating with external Building Automation Systems to process requests for items such as Overtime HVAC. This was done to reduce paperwork and manual processes and to ensure accurate billing through work orders created by the reservation module.
