Floor Class
Floor classes are additional classifications for floors that allow custom fields to be associated with the floor. The class assigned to a floor is independent of the category/subCategory and functional category/functional subCategory assigned to it. That is, floors in different categories can be assigned the same class value.
User-defined fields (UDFs) can be associated with a floor class. When you assign a floor class to a floor, the associated UDFs appear in a separate pane on that floor's Edit Floor and View Floor pages. For example, by creating a Retail floor class, you can associate user-defined fields for the number of store fronts, bathroom availability, or accessibility options with a floor. For more information, see Application UDFs.
To open the Floor Class page:
-
Open the Administration Menu page.
-
Under the SPACE ADMIN heading, click Floor Classes.
The Admin – Floor Class page opens. All defined floor class values are displayed, listed in order of Tab Order first, then chronologically by Last Update date.
A floor class creates a floor classification that user-defined fields can be associated with. To define a floor class:
-
Click the Add New link.
The Add Floor Class dialog box opens.
-
In the Name field, enter a name for the floor class.
-
In the Description field, enter a description of the floor class.
This field can be used to provide more information about the floor class. This value can be up to 1000 characters long. As you type, the character count updates indicating the number of additional characters that can be entered.
-
In the Tab Order field, enter a numeric value.
The Tab Order indicates the position, in menus, where this value will be listed. Lower numbered values are displayed toward the top of the list. Values will the same tab order will be sorted alphabetically.
-
In the Active field, select Yes to make this floor class active.
Inactive values remain in the system, but are not displayed to users.
-
Click ADD.
The floor class is added to the system. The floor class parameters are displayed, including the name of the user who added the floor class and the date and time it was added.
Floor classes can be modified. For example, if you want to change the value that users see, you can modify the floor class name. To edit a floor class:
-
Click the Edit link to the right of the floor class you want to edit.
-
Modify any of the following values:
- Name – the value that users see
- Description – information about the floor class
- Tab Order – the position in which the floor class will be displayed in drop-down menus
- Active – Yes indicates that the floor class is active (displayed to the user)
-
Click UPDATE.
The modified floor class parameters, including the name of the user who edited them and the date and time when they were edited, are displayed.
Floor classes that have not been used can be deleted from the system. You cannot delete a floor class if it has been assigned to any floors or if any user-defined fields have been associated with it.
If a floor class has been used but is no longer needed, you can edit it and make it inactive to prevent it from being displayed to users.
To delete a floor class:
-
Click the Edit link to the right of the floor class you want to delete.
-
Click the Delete link in the upper right corner of the dialog box.
A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.
-
Click OK.
