Project Document Types

Project document types are used to identify the types of documents associated with a project, for example, Design Documents or Schedules. These values populate the Document Type drop-down menu on the Project module's Project Document page and the Current Documents drop-down menu on the Project Details page.

To open the Project Document Types page:

  1. Open the Administration Menu page.

  2. Under the PROJECT ADMIN heading, click Project Document Types.

To add a project document type:

  1. In the Add Document Type field, enter the name of the project document type.

    This is the value that will be displayed to users.

  2. Click ADD.

Once you have created a project document type, you can further define it or edit it. To edit a project document type:

  1. In the Document Type field, select the project document type to edit.

  2. To change the name of the project document type, enter a value in the Rename field.

    All historical information will reflect the new value.

  3. To change the display order, enter a value in the Tab Order field.

    The Tab Order indicates the position, in menus, where this value will be listed. Lower numbered values are displayed toward the top of the list. Values will the same tab order will be sorted alphabetically.

  4. To change the status, select a value in the Status field.

    Project document types with a status of Inactive are not displayed to users. However, inactivating a project document type does not affect the existing projects that utilize it.

  5. Click UPDATE.

ClosedDelete a Project Document Type

Project document types that have not been used can be deleted from the system.

Project document types that have been associated with a project cannot be deleted, but they can be inactivated to prevent users from accessing them.

To delete a project document types:

  1. In the Document Type field, select the value to delete.

  2. Click DELETE.

    A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.

  3. Click OK.
