Property Types
The Property Type page allows you to define a list of property types and subTypes that can be used to indicate the purpose of the property, for example, residential, office, or retail. These values populate the Property Type and Property SubType field menus on the Create Property page.
Administrators can also associate custom User Defined Fields (UDFs) to a property based on the property type.
To open the Property Type page:

Open the Administration Menu page.

Under the ADMIN heading, click Property Types.
A property type defines the top-level classification of a property. To add a new property type:

In the Add Property Type field, enter the name of the property type.
This is the value that users will see.

In the Residential field, select Yes if the primary use of the property is residential.

In the Space Detail field, select Yes if all spaces and floors associated with the Property should be used for reporting purposes.

Click ADD.
A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.

Click OK.
A property subType defines a more specific property classification below the property type. For example, beneath the Residential property type, you could define the Apartment and Condominium subTypes. A subType can only be added beneath a property type. To add a new property subType:

In the Property Type field, select the property type you want to add the subType to.

In the Add Property SubType field, enter the name of the new subType.

In the Associate To field, select a value.
This value indicates whether the subType will be associated to the Location ID or the Territory for reporting.

Click ADD.
Once you have created a property type, you can edit it. To edit a property type:

In the Property Type field, select the property type to edit.

To change the name of the property type, enter a value in the Rename field.
All historical information will reflect the new value.

In the Residential field, select Yes to indicate that the primary purpose of the property is residential.

In the Space Detail field, select Yes to indicates that all spaces and floors associated with the Property should be used for reporting purposes.

Click UPDATE.
Existing property subTypes can be edited. To edit a property subType:

In the Property Type field, select the property type that the subType was created beneath.

Modify any of the following fields.

Active – Select a value to indicate whether this property subType is active or inactive. Inactive subTypes remain in the system but are not displayed to users.

Property SubType – Modify this value to change the name of the property subType.

Associate To – Select a value to indicate whether this subType should be associated with the Location ID or the Territory for reporting.

Click UPDATE.
Property Types that have not been used can be deleted from the system.
Property types that have been associated with a property or have property subTypes associated with them cannot be deleted. These associations must first be removed before a property can be deleted.
To delete a property type:

In the Property Type field, select the value to delete.

Click DELETE.
A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.

Click OK.
Property SubTypes that have not been used can be deleted from the system.
Property subTypes that have been associated with a property cannot be deleted, but they can be made Inactive to prevent users from accessing them.
To delete a property subType:

In the Property Type field, select the property type that the subType was created beneath.
All of the property subTypes defined for that property type appear in the yellow pane.

To the right of the property subType, click the DELETE link.
